In Memory

Cindy Schlecte (Swannack)

Cindy Schlecte (Swannack) 75, resident of Buda, passed away peacefully in her bed on February 23rd, 2020. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado on October 13th, 1944 to Drs. Marvin and Ruth Schlecte. She grew up in Plainview, Texas with four siblings.

Cindy graduated from Texas Tech University and after short stints in Houston and Victoria, she and her two sons moved to Buda in 1984, which would become her forever home. After a year working as an educational director, she decided to become a mortgage officer in Austin. She started out an unpaid volunteer to learn the ropes and within a decade was the president of her own company, which she ran successfully until her retirement in 2014. She was a rock star in her field.

Cindy was an avid golfer, playing twice a week and was constantly improving. She loved skiing and traveled abroad with the Austin Skiers. But to her, she was most proud of raising her sons, Todd and Craig, shenanigans and all.

Cindy truly believed in the golden rule and treated everyone with kindness. She is survived by her sons, Todd (Jenny), Ctaig (Shawntel), two grandchildren (Garret and Emi), her sister Peggy (Don), two brothers, Charles (Diane) and Joe (Suzi) and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews that she adored.

She is pre-deseased by her parents, Marvin and Ruth, her aunt and uncle (Auntie and Uncle Clarence) and her oldest sister, Danta Ruth.

A memorial service was held at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church. A celebration of life followed at the clubhouse in La Ventana, Driftwood, Texas.
